Growth Strategy for Personal Development

Daily Improvement and Constant Personal Growth

In the Military we learn values that we'll take with us for the rest of our lives.  These values are what separate us from a large portion of the working civilian world.  We are not saying the majority of companies don't hold themselves and their staff accountable we're only saying the majority of military veterans lead by example and usually become positive catalyst within their civilian work environments.

That being said, how do you continue to build upon this foundation of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage?

You must build upon these learned values by discovering additional ways to contribute to a civilian working environment.  Some of you will enter working environments that may seem confusing to you at first.  Do your best to stay above the established perceptions of the people you are working with.  Do not listen to people that question why you work so hard.  Treat the company you work for like you would if you were the CEO of that company.  Always be looking for ways to improve things and always be a team player.

This philosophy will not always get you the promotion or the "big raise" but what this philosophy will do is it will separate you from everyone else and you as a professional will grow your skills above and beyond your co-workers.

You remember how it was during your military training.  Everything was new and things seemed difficult at the time but as you became more accustomed to the ins and outs of military life it become like second nature.  The same thing will happen for you in the civilian world.  Your first job will be awkward at first and the way situations or problems are addressed may be strange as well but you will learn to apply your obstacle solving strategies learned in the military and make big problems in the civilian world look like games.
