It's one of the main reasons given for enlisting and re-enlisting, Air Force tuition assistance.
The Air Force tuition assistance program will pay for up to $250 per semester credit hour and $4,500 a year. You must apply for Air Force tuition assistance online and assistance is available to all active duty officers and enlisted airmen. Courses and degree programs can be academic or technical taken from two or four year institutions on or off base or through correspondence.
Enlisted airmen are already automatically enrolled in the Community College of the Air Force, where their Air Force training is applied toward an associate's degree.
Air Force tuition assistance cannot be used to pay for textbooks unless they are included in the academic institution's published tuition rates. Air Force tuition assistance cannot be used for programs beyond master's degrees.
Your Air Force tuition assistance application will not be processed if you are missing grades over 60 days from the course end date, suspense dates have expired, missing personal data in the education record, requesting tuition assistance for courses that have a start date more than 30 days away, requesting tuition assistance for courses that have already started and if you don't have a degree plan on record.
Officials say that the Air Force tuition assistance program should not keep airmen from contributing to the GI Bill. If you are not able to finish your degree while on active duty, having the GI Bill for later use is a wise investment.
