E-Army U Lets Soldiers Take Classes From Multiple Campus Programs

For many, service in the army is an education in itself. However, once someone is discharged from the army he will need other skills to get a job in civilian life. It’s not always easy to learn those skills while in the service, but fortunately, for today’s soldier, the power of the Internet and e-Army U can help.

What Is e-Army U?

e-Army U (earmyu.com) is a learning portal for soldiers looking to advance their education online. The program was created in 2001 to offer a distance learning program that was geared specifically towards soldiers and their needs. The Army benefits by having a more educated military force while keeping the soldiers happy as they are more easily able to move forward with their personal goals for education.

How Does e-Army U Work?

Soldiers can take advantage of over 100 degree programs from accredited colleges or universities through e-Army U. e-Army U distance learning programs allow soldiers to earn a certificate, associate's degree, bachelor's degree or even a master's degree in a wide variety of disciplines. Soldiers will be enrolled with one “home” college, but can take classes towards the degree from multiple colleges. Since e-Army U is an online distance education program, students can take classes according to their own (or the army’s) schedule, which is great for soldiers who may be called to duty at any time.

Who Is Eligible for e-Army U?

All soldiers are eligible for e-Army U and over 32,000 of them have taken place to date. Soldiers have received over 5,000 degrees from e-Army U. e-Army U services may vary depending upon unit, some soldiers will be party to an e-Army U Technology Package Participation Agreement which will include free course materials, Internet access and tutoring, while those who do not have such an agreement will be required to buy their own books and other services.
