The Army is the largest military branch in the U.S. and executes all operations conducted by land. The branch formed June 4, 1775, originally as the Continental Army. The U.S. Army has three constituents: the regular Army, the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. The regular Army is active duty, while the other two are reserve components.
