Using a headhunter can save you time. Instead of combing through thousands of ads for employment, you can submit your resume to a single individual (or agency) and let them find work for you. Veterans will have a good success rate with most headhunters and employment agencies, as military veterans have qualities all employers find admirable. The discipline and training you learned in the military will immediately set you apart. Most headhunters are more than happy to work with vets, and usually you’ll be able to find employment quickly with them.
The services of many headhunters and employment agencies are free. Don’t use a headhunter that wants to charge you money! There are many others out there who won’t charge you a dime because they are already receiving a fee for the service they’re providing on behalf of the hiring company.
Sometimes, it’s harder not to go through a headhunter or employment agency when doing a job search. So many companies use job recruiters these days that you’ll actually be missing out on many opportunities if you ignore ads that involve recruiters. There are generally more job openings available when you go the headhunter route.

Headhunters are concerned with finding the best candidate for the company that’s paying them – they aren’t concerned with finding the job that’s best for you.
Finding the right headhunter is important. Some recruiters offer jobs on only a temporary basis, which defeats many long-term goals that post-military professionals may have. Once the temp assignment is over, you have to start the entire process again. Temporary jobs often don’t come with benefits, which can be a deterrent.
